Looking back it seems obvious…
Looking back it seems obvious, but for the majority of my life I just didn't get it.
It took years of spiritually drowning for me realize, but once I did, something deep inside me could finally breathe 🌬️
After lifetimes of inner work and utterly failing to "heal and release" my most shadowy parts, it hit me 💡
Becoming a healthier, happier version of ourselves isn't about erasing the ugly, messy parts that make us cringe.
It's not about perfecting or letting go of the parts that feel bad, useless, or unworthy.
It's about accepting what is already true for us 💥
Our ego will protest this all the livelong day, but eventually it must face the music...
The foundation of genuine, lasting healing is learning to truly embrace *being human* 🌎
It's simple, yet it's one of deepest reckonings we face while walking this Earth 👣
Because the thing is...
🌈 No one is born into a perfect life
🪞 No one looks in the mirror and effortlessly loves every single thing reflecting back
🦄 No one has a perfect track record in their relationships or a past without embarrassing, cringe-worthy moments
💔 No one is miraculously immune to heartbreak, shitty thoughts, or bad days
🤷♀️ No one has it all figured out
And no one is ever alone in these struggles.
We're all human. And as challenging as it is to be next-level-sentient on this planet, the most painful thing we can do is deny who we truly are.
"Why can't I just be happy and normal?"
"Why did I say that?"
"Why do I have to be so sensitive/emotional?"
"Why am I like this?"
We've all been there. We've slept on our truths, hidden parts of ourselves we don't like, and felt the bitter sting of relating to life as a victim of our own humanity 👥
But fortunately for us...
The sting is a wake up call ⏰
On other side of self-denial is a chance to live in authentic acceptance of not just ourselves, but our wholeness, and even life itself.
And as impossible as it may seem, one of the clearest paths to embodied wholeness is embracing all of the ways life inevitably touches us...
Allowing the highs and lows to flow through our lives as they always have and always will, without resisting the waves or letting one another sink when the tide is high.
Without labeling and pathologizing ourselves for being affected by the currents 〰 〰
Without frantically trying to escape the feeling body or outrun the power lurking in our darkest depths 💎
Being human may not be a choice*, but accepting our whole self in the midst of our human journey is.
Allowing this radical form of Love to pour through us is our greatest purpose as earthly stewards of divine Light.
And...
It's our destiny. It's intrinsic to our collective evolution through separation to wholeness/holiness/Oneness ☯️
So if you struggle with being fully comfortable in your skin, welcome to the human club ✌️
Know that I'm sitting next to you, navigating uncomfortable feelings and annoying mundane human problems just like you.
And in the stormy seasons of being human...
I'm sending waves of compassion to all of us learning to show up with our shadows, courageously allowing the world to witness what is real and true for us - despite the very real pressure to be better, faster, and stronger than humanly possible 🌊🌊🌊
May we help each other shed the illusion of linear, photoshopped healing that enables covert perfectionism and self-denial to rob of us our natural fullness 🌓🌗
May we sink into our human skin and embrace the messiness of life, even when it hurts.
May radical Love be our legacy in this world and beyond 💚🌎💙
